Blended by love

Blended by love was an event that took place last weekend on 01st September 2018 at Karen woodlands. An event that was put together by Cathy a fashion blogger (Fashionable step mum)


The event was mainly about blended families and Cathy spoke about her life story as a step mum and how the kids slowly by slowly accepted her as their mom. I loved how the girls spoke so well of their mum. There were also other guests who were in attendance a blended family counselor who also spoke about the challenges women face as step mums and how to deal with them. Kate Actress a popular local actress in Nairobi also spoke about blended families from her own personal experience which was touching and hilarious because of the way she narrated her experience from being an early mum at 19 years to introducing her son to her boyfriend back then who is now his father. Kirigo Ngarua was an awesome MC she kept the audience engaged the whole time. All in all the event gave me a totally new perspective about step families.

During the event Fashionable step mum officially launched  Blended by love as an organization that will help step mums and blended families.

Interesting enough I also come from a blended family. I have a step sister who was introduced to us when we were kids, I remember me and my small sis were so happy to have an older sis even though we didn't understand what that meant. She would visit us during the school holidays then she would go back to my grandma when the holidays were over. As we grew up we got to understand that she had a different dad than ours but all the same we bonded and love each other. We look slightly different but we all love each other and we rarely think of the other as half/step sister all we know is that we are sisters.
