If there is one thing I have learned over the years as a fashion blogger is that good photos can make or break your brand. I love taking good quality photos and today I will share with you my tips for finding a good photographer to work with and it doesn't matter if you are a blogger or not, trust me this tips will come in handy when you are looking for someone to take photos on your wedding day, birthday, bridal shower e.t.c.
Let's get straight to it.
1. Research
Take your time doing research on the different photographers that are there within your location, you can do this through social media especially on Instagram. keep in mind what type of photographer you are looking for it could be a wedding photographer, fashion photographer, studio photographer e.t.c. In my case I usually identify fashion photographers and check out their work and the bloggers they have worked with, are their photos up to the standards am aiming for. The same tact applies when you are looking to do a studio shoot, identify a photographer who does an impeccable studio shoots, do they have props that you can use? These are some of the questions to ask yourself when looking for a photographer.
2. Quality of photos
Now after you have identified a couple of photographers you would like to work with, the next step is to check out the quality of their work. How do they edit their photos? Does the photographer pay attention to details when editing? Does he over do his editing until the photos look fake or too plastic? You have to be really keen because at the end of the day you want very good photos, these are memories you get to keep forever so the photos have to be good.
3. Price
We have now identified the photographer we want to work with, next thing to do is get in touch with them and find out how much they charge.Remember you have to get good value for your money and at the same time keep in mind cheap can be expensive. Go with a photographer who fits your budget. Also the price has to match the number of photos he will give you either in soft or hard copy.
4. Turn around time
This is a very important part, you need to agree with the photographer on when the photos should be ready. Always work with someone who delivers on time. I have worked with photographers who take forever to edit pictures. That usually gets on my nerves, so clearly tell him or her when you want the photos. If he can't deliver on time, please move on to the next before you even beginning working together.
So those are the 4 most important points to consider when choosing a photographer to work with. Hope this post was informative and if you have any questions do let me know. If you enjoyed this post please let me know and maybe next time I can do a post on what to look out for when choosing a photo-shoot location.
