Just another hustle

Last week I traveled up country for a family function. I was so excited about going on a road trip, my shagz( village) is quite a distance from the city, Migori county to be precise. That is where my mum comes from but am a luo from Kendu Bay my dad' side which is in Homa Bay county.
I was in Migori County and  if you are my friend on Facebook am sure you saw my status update in Luo ( my mother tongue) mentioning the delicacies I intended to eat during my stay.

Outfit Post: The Little Black Dress

You can never go wrong with wearing a little black dress especially for a night out with the girls. It was a chilly night on this particular day so i decided to wear black stockings.
For this look i decided to go all black everything except for  the shoes and the handbag.I have worn this similar LBD here without stockings.

As for my accessories i broke the rules here i wore silver earrings and a gold neck piece and amazingly enough they blended in perfectly well!

I decided to pair up this whole look with both a purse and a handbag. You see when you going out with your friends you just need a purse with lipstick and powder in it to freshen up every now and then, carrying a hand bag would be ideal if maybe you are going to a friends house party, you can carry clothes to change the following day thats if you intend to sleep over.

To add a little bit of colour to my outfit i wore Blue Spiked heels which i worn before here.I bought this shoes at some shop at Jamia Mall, they are the type of shoes that clearly make a fashion statement,i love the silver spike details on them and the fact that they are 6 inches i don't get to wear them quite often as they are too high for me.

When it comes to putting on make up at night i prefer going all bright and loud. Here i decided to go for an orange eyeshadow from sleek eyeshadow palette,my favourite redlipstick from sleek is currently out of stock in most cosmetic shops in town so i opted for the purple sleek lipstick. On my face i used black Opal, beautiful bronze foundation and Suzie Beauty Loose Powder. For my eyelashes i used  M.A.C mascara.

3 year Blogoversary!!!

I can't believe its actually been three years since i started blogging. It's been a journey and half and there is no way i would let this month pass without me mentioning it because its quite an achievement for me.

I started blogging in February 2011,back then all i knew was that i loved fashion so i would like just type a few sentences and add so many photos to make up a blog post and since i was so shy i only mentioned to a few of my friends that i had a blog....funny thing is i never even wanted to show my face on the blog so in 2011 there was no outfit post maybe just one.
In 2012 i came out of my "cacoon"so to speak and i actually started posting outfits on the blog and i even went ahead and opened a fan page for my blog on facebook (feel free to like it).I never really wanted so many people to know that i blog i was so shy and i was afraid of being judged. One thing i also learn't about being a blogger is that there is no way you can escape attention especially if you are  a fashion blogger.

Sometimes people stare at me in the streets because they see my face on the blog and when they meet me in person they are like i have seen you somewhere you look familiar...i always smile and tell them about my blog.
Some of the challenges i have experienced in fashion blogging is taking photos...sometimes it can be quite tough getting a good location to take photos leave alone people staring at you and wondering if you are model or what the hell is going on...i have learn't to be brave enough and take pics without caring what people think of me whether they are staring i really don't care i just do my thing.

I have to say 2013 was the peak of my fashion blogging career as i got to do a lot.....like attending most fashion events and taking  pics to post on the blog.I Also got to partner with different companies which was  a plus for me. I was so happy when  i started earning through blogging, all i can say is hard work and consistency which ain't easy in the blogging world is what got me here.

Getting invited to events is always an honour and when i got invited to the absolute fashion event i was really happy this  shows how much my blog is getting recognition. I really had a good time at the event as i got to network with various people in the fashion industries like Annabel and Ann Mcreath among others.

Fashion blogging for the last 3 years has been such an amazing journey for me full of ups and downs the best part about it is that i keep on learning and growing more and more.Am hoping  for the best this year.

So far I have written 137 posts  and my blog page views is currently at 60,066 and my face book like page is currently at 1,711 and on blogger i have 39 followers.May seem little to someone else but to me this is an achievement i intend to work hard as fashion is my passion am thankful to all of you who always read my blog and comment all that means a lot to me.

Before i leave though,i want to update you on my hair journey like i promised on my last post.I went and had my hair braided...i really love this braids..soft dreads by angel they are really funky, you would think its a weave but its actually braids.

Have an amazing week! Thanks for checking out my blog

Event Review:Absolut Fashion

The event took place on Friday 1st November at the Yaya Rooftop,it started at 7pm.It was a night of fashion where 5 different designers among them Black Bird,Kache by Angie & Kiko Romeo showcased their designs. All the guests looked amazing & stylish and more so the ambiance was just perfect for the evening.
I took a couple of photos of Strutt it Africa Models in the Designers outfits.
p.s they are in no particular order.

Outfit Post:What I wore to Nairobi Fashion market Event

The spectacular event took place at the Ngong Racecourse for two days Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th Oct.I was ubber excited especially when i got complimentary tickets which was just by sheer luck.

So i wore an Aztec Print Pencil dress which i bought from a friend's shop here and silver sandals that i bought from Mr.Price, for the accessories the sunglasses i bought them from Mr.Price too and the neck piece is from super cosmetics i have worn it here before and the chunky african print bangles i made them. The Orange bag i bought from an online shop on facebook.

I love this pencil dress more so because of the prints and it can still look stylish if you pair it up with heels but for this particular event i didn't want to subject myself to that because i knew i would move around a lot so i went for the sandals. To break the monochrome look i had an orange bag just to add more life to my whole look.
I took lots of photos am putting them up on my next blog post and i also met a fellow  fashion blogger  Lucia Musau

I
We met after the event so we really didn't have a chance to take a good photo. She is a really good fashion blogger and i admire her sense of style!I was so happy to see her!
I didnt want to post everything on one post so my next post is on the event, from vendors, runway shows  to street style.

Thanks for checking out my blog!

XOXOXOX
